Chapter 10: Dawn on 4th Street**

The next morning broke clear and crisp over the city.
The front pages of the morning papers exploded with the scandal: *BILLIONAIRE'S FIANCÉE CAUGHT IN MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR FAKE DISABILITY FRAUD*. The story dominated television screens and social media, detailing the dramatic arrest at Pier 42 and the collapse of the medical syndicate.
Vincent ignored all the calls from reporters, board members, and old socialite friends.
Instead, he sat on the stoop of the tenement building on 4th Street, drinking black coffee from a paper cup. The street was alive with morning activity. Children were running along the sidewalks, and neighbors were greeting each other with a renewed sense of relief.
A black city sedan pulled up to the curb. Evelyn stepped out, carrying a leather briefcase.
""It's done,"" she said, sitting down beside Vincent on the concrete step. ""The city comptroller processed the payment. The eviction notices have been permanently voided. The entire district is now legally owned by the 'Leo & Maya Community Land Trust.' Sterling's real estate group was liquidated to pay the municipal fines.""
Vincent smiled—a genuine, warm smile that reached his eyes for the first time in years. ""Thank you, Evelyn.""
""You could have kept that deed, Vincent,"" Evelyn noted gently. ""That land is worth four times what you paid.""
""Some things aren't meant to be investments, Evelyn,"" Vincent said, watching a flock of pigeons scatter into the morning sky. ""Some things are just meant to be right.""

The front door behind them squeaked open. Leo walked out, wearing a clean jacket Vincent had bought him, followed by his mother, Sarah, who held a small thermos of hot tea.
