Chapter 15 - The Only Date That Matters

That evening, Dante rented out the entire terrace of L’Aura.
The sun was sinking beneath the purple horizon, casting a breathtaking twilight over the sea, identical to the night everything had changed three weeks earlier. But this time, there were no terrified whispers, no fleeing diners, and no shadows lurking in the docks below.
Dante sat at the central table, wearing a clean, tailored midnight-blue suit—this time accompanied by a crisp white shirt. Across from him sat Elena, stunning in an elegant emerald dress, her hazel eyes sparkling under the candlelight.
Beside her, perched proudly in a high-backed dining chair, was Mia. She wore her favorite red dress, neatly pressed, her brown hair pulled back with a sparkling ribbon.
The head waiter arrived, bowing respectfully as he poured sparkling cider into Mia’s champagne flute. “A toast, Mr. Vance?”
Dante lifted his glass, looking first at Elena, whose smile held the warmth of a thousand dawns, and then at his daughter, whose eyes shone with pure joy and safety.
“To family,” Dante said, his voice deep, steady, and rich with love. “To second chances, unbreakable promises, and coming home.”
“To coming home,” Elena and Mia echoed in unison, clinking their glasses together with a cheerful chime.
Mia reached across the white linen tablecloth, placing her small hand over Dante’s tattooed knuckles. “I’m glad I ran into this restaurant, Dad.”

Dante gently squeezed her fingers, smiling at the girl who had walked into the lion’s den to save her mother—and in doing so, had saved him.
“Me too, Mia,” Dante whispered softly, looking out across the endless sea. “Me too.”
